In einer Kriminalerzählung oder in einem Kriminalroman (Lat. crimen, criminis; Verbrechen) geht es um ein Verbrechen sowie um dessen Ausführung und schließlich Entdeckung. Dabei steht häufig die Darstellung der Motive des Täters für sein Verbrechen im Vordergrund. Es ergibt sich ein Rätsel, wie die Tat geschah, dessen Auflösung manchmal erklärt, aus welchen persönlichen und gesellschaftlichen Gründen es zu der Tat kommen konnte. Im Detektivroman , einer anderen Form des Kriminalromans, tritt die ausführliche Schilderung der Detektion, der Aufdeckung und Aufklärung eines Verbrechens durch den Ermittler (Detektiv) in den Vordergrund. Die Ursprünge des Kriminalromans reichen weiter zurück, er etablierte sich aber Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts als eigenständige Literaturgattung. Heute unterteilt sich das Genre in zahlreiche Untergenres, die sich nach Schwerpunkt, Sicht- und Erzählweise zum Teil erheblich unterscheiden. Christopher  Lee (1922-2015) a joué le rôle de Dracula dans plusieurs films Anglais. Mais il y a aussi un film français dans lequel Lee joue le vampire populaire. Lee ne voulait pas que le rôle dans ce film était Dracula, le nom n'est jamais mentionné dans le film. Mais on a   mentionné  le nom dans le titre du film, « Dracula père et fils ». C'est une comédie. Le vampire comte Dracula a un fils. Les deux sont immortelles, ils vivent encore dans le temps moderne, mais ils doivent sortir de la  Roumanie  parce que les communistes ont pris le gouvernement. Le père devient un film star en Angleterre et il joue un vampire dans des films. Le fils mène une vie pauvre en France. Un  jour , les deux se rencontrent encore une fois.
