The Smiths played tennis. Die Smiths spielten Tennis.

The Smiths came to Inverness. Die Smiths kamen nach Inverness.

Alan didn't play football.

Alan didn't come to town.

Did Alan work at home?

Did Alan eat a sandwich?

Pamela was at home.

David wasn't at home.

Was Sabrina at home?

Exercise 1

Mrs Miller ______ (not go) to the museum last week.

Exercise 2

Last week our private investigator Randolph Stone ______ (go) to his favorite Italian restaurant

in order to have a decent meal with his friend, police officer Dan Beckston. The two _____ (meet)

at seven o'clock at the “Italian Stallion”. Mario Agretti, the waiter, ______ (lead) them to their table

and ______ (give) them the menu. He _____ (ask) them if they already ____ (want) to order something to drink. Randolph ______ (order) a Coke and Dan ______ (order) a water. Crime fighters never drink alcohol.

Randolph and Dan _______ (talk) about their latest achievements. While Randolph had solved the Chess Knight Case, Dan had taken part in the arresting of the famous mobster Jimmy Santiago.
